Yikes.
When it comes to supercars, different metrics are important for different buyers. Some buy purely for performance. Others want to stand out in a crowd. Now, whether that standing out is for a good reason or a bad reason, we suppose, depends on the beholder. While cars like the Lamborghini Huracan have smooth, flowing lines that create an image of careful design, the Devel Sixteen does not. This latest supercar from Italian firm FV Frangivento definitely falls into the latter camp, seemingly mixing elements from Toyotas, Bugattis, and maybe even the C8 Corvette. But fear not – the jokes from your mates will stop the moment you take them for a spin.
The thing you’re looking at is called the Sorpasso, and it’s available in two guises: Stradale and GTXX. Both feature a V10 engine and all-wheel-drive, just like a Huracan, but while the former produces 602 horsepower, the latter produces as much as 799 hp thanks to a supercharger – something you’d have to add to a Huracan. The similarities between the two cars pretty much end there, as the GTXX is made from carbon fiber and weighs just 2,866 pounds. This makes it capable of 0-62 mph in just 2.9 seconds with a top speed of 214 mph.
Unfortunately, only the Stradale has been revealed so far, with FV Frangivento promising “a more aggressive look” for the GTXX thanks to a large rear wing and other aero aids. We doubt any of these changes will improve the aesthetics, sadly, despite co-founder and art director Giorgio Pirolo’s claim that this car is inspired by icons like the Ferrari Dino and Lamborghini Miura.
The interior is also unfinished at this point, but promises to be sporty with leather and Alcantara in a minimalist design. But since there are new supercars coming out all the time, how does this Turin-based company stand out? Along with an Avatar Driving Assistant with “customizable human features”, customers can also look forward to working their way through a choice of two design programs – Sviluppo and Ego – each of which gives the buyer an opportunity to create a bespoke supercar over the course of a month. Pricing has not been disclosed but orders are open and are promised to be fulfilled within 150 days of the order confirmation. First deliveries should start in Monaco and the UAE in July.
