Bosch achieved sales of 2,200 million euros in Spain in 2020

After the pandemic, Bosch managed to increase sales of products related to the connectivity and digitization of vehicles, especially in the electric and hybrid.

The forecasts have gone better than expected for Bosch during 2020 where, despite the pandemic, the German company obtained sales worth 2,200 million euros in our country. Of course, these figures represent a decrease of 9.5% compared to the same period of the previous year.

“In March 2020, our business in the country was severely affected by the coronavirus pandemic and associated lockdowns, although it recovered especially during the second half of the year. Spain continues to be one of Bosch’s main markets in Europe, ”said Javier González Pareja, president of the Bosch Group for Spain and Portugal, during the annual press conference. “We have had a good start to the year and we generally expect positive business development in 2021.”

The year began with significant growth until the start of the pandemic. Subsequently, during the last third of the year, sales experienced a recovery where the highest growth occurred in products related to connectivity and the digitization of vehicles.

This has to do with the many projects for electric and hybrid vehicles in which Bosch supplies components such as motors, inverters, chargers and other electronic components. Another highlight is the enormous growth that the components for electric bikes in the Spanish market, whose sales almost doubled compared to the previous year.

Electrification and hydrogen, key for Bosch

In powertrain technology, electromobility is establishing itself as Bosch’s core business. The company has made an investment of 700 million euros this year, already reaching 5,000 million euros accumulated. Likewise, the Germans intend to multiply annual sales in this field by five, until they enter about five billion euros by 2025.

Bosch is not forgetting hydrogen either, with several hydrogen fuel cell solutions already being developed and in which, from 2021 to 2024, it plans to invest 1 billion euros.

Bosch achieved climate neutrality in spring 2020 at its more than 400 locations around the world. This has already been confirmed by independent tests and as a result, it is the first large industrial company, worldwide, whose locations, including also those in Spain, no longer leave a carbon footprint. To do this, the company has been based on four main axes: increasing energy efficiency, increasing the proportion of renewable energy in its energy supply, buying more green energy and offsetting the inevitable carbon emissions.

Regarding the new emission limits that will arrive that will be included in the new Euro 7 regulation, “Bosch supports the intention to improve air quality in Europe through new emission standards,” said González Pareja. He also explained that “in climate action it is not the end of the internal combustion engine that counts, but the end of fossil fuels. While electromobility and green charging power make road transport carbon neutral, so do renewable fuels. ‘
