Munich There aren’t many things that make Mercedes managers jealously squint at BMW. One of these few cases is of course the fact that the eternal rival from Munich will be able to take over the majority of its Chinese joint venture in the coming year – as the first foreign manufacturer in the People’s Republic.
This enables BMW to fully consolidate the lucrative subsidiary in the Far East in the group for the first time. As a result, sales and operating profit will skyrocket in 2022. Daimler boss Ola Källenius also dreams of such an effect. The front man of the Mercedes manufacturer has long been trying to reach an agreement with his partner, the Beijing state group BAIC Motor, in China. So far without success.
