Audi e-tron GT – starting price: £81,915
Why’s it cool? It’s a fantastic-looking EV that’s properly quick, plus it features in Marvel films.
Audi really shook up the EV world when it revealed the e-tron GT. It’s a very cool-looking thing indeed, cool enough for Tony Stark to drive one in the Avengers End Game movie.
It’s also insanely quick and handles well for a heavy electric car.
Bugatti Chiron Super Sport – starting price: £2.75 million
Why’s it cool? Because it’s a Bugatti. Enough said.
The Bugatti Chiron Super Sport is a car that many people aspire to but very few can afford, and it’s this exclusivity that makes it so cool. It has a 273mph top speed thanks to a whopping 8.0-litre W16 quad-turbocharged engine with 1600Hp, making it ideal in a game of top trumps.
BMW M2 – starting price: £45,895
Why’s it cool? It’s massively fun to drive while being more practical than most sports cars.
When it comes to hooning around a track, few cars are more fun than the BMW M2. The combination of a powerful 3.0-litre engine in the front, the option for a manual gearbox in the middle and rear-wheel drive at the back make it very enjoyable to fling around corners.
Audi RS3 – starting price: £53,830
Why’s it cool? The combination of speed and practicality make it the perfect daily driver.
The latest Audi RS3 gets a lot of things right. It’s quick thanks to its unique five-cylinder engine, the cabin’s well made and it can be a lot of fun when the road gets twisty. If you want a hot hatchback that slips under the radar, the RS3 could be the one for you.
Mercedes-AMG C63 – starting price: £85,860
Why’s it cool? The classy styling and thumping V8 engine are sure to turn heads.
Let’s face it, the badge on the boot lid of your car plays a big part in the cool factor, and a three-pointed star is bound to attract attention. Add in the loud V8 engine and sleek styling of the Mercedes-AMG C63 and you’re on to a winner.
Porsche 911 – starting price: £89,295
Why’s it cool? It’s a supercar that you can drive everyday.
Very few cars come with as much heritage attached as the Porsche 911. Since the first model in 1963, it’s been evolving and improving to become the perfect daily supercar. Whether you go for the base Carrera or the ultimate track-focused GT3 model, you can be sure it will be huge fun to drive and properly quick.
Mercedes EQS – starting price: £99,995
Why’s it cool? Both inside and out, it looks like it’s come straight from the future.
The Mercedes EQS is an electric alternative to the S-Class luxury saloon. It’s all gorgeous swoopy lines on the outside, which make it look unlike anything else on the road. Inside, it’s closer to a spaceship than a car with a huge panel of screens dominating the dashboard.
Range Rover – starting price: £95,000
Why’s it cool? The Range Rover has been the ride of the rich and famous for decades now.
Few other cars offer the same combination of style, comfort and off-road ability as the Range Rover. The design is instantly recognisable, with its blunt front end and huge badge across the bonnet telling other road users that you’re cooler than they are.
Nissan GT-R – starting price: £88,365
Why’s it cool? The GT-R offers supercar beating performance for a lot less cash.
There can be no doubt that the Nissan GT-R is a properly quick car, with Nismo models able to do 0-60mph in around 2.5 seconds. There’s also enough technology on board to make it easy to drive on the limit and impress your mates on the track. It’s not cheap, but when compared to most supercars the GT-R looks like a bit of a bargain.
Zenvo TSR-S – starting price: £1.3 million (before tax)
Why’s it cool? Because it’s just completely bonkers.
If you think the Bugatti Chiron is a bit too mainstream, then the Zenvo TSR-S may be the solution. This insane Danish supercar has a 1,177Hp V8 engine, an astronomical price tag and a unique party piece. That would be the rear wing which pivots left and right around corners, which is a reason to buy one all on its own.
BMW M5 – starting price: £104,380
Why’s it cool? It’s a car you can take the kids to school in on the way to the race track.
The BMW M5 is probably the first car that springs to mind when we say super saloon, and for good reason. It has subtle styling, plenty of room for the family and supercar-beating performance. Add in that it’s comfortable and easy to live with and you have an all-round package that’s hard to beat.
Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT – starting price: £144,000
Why’s it cool? SUVs have no business being this fast or fun to drive.
The Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT doesn’t just drive well for an SUV, it drives well full stop. While you’re throwing it down a country road listening to the V8 engine you could be forgiven for thinking you’re in a proper sports car, until you look behind you and remember you’re on the school run and your child’s been sick.
Lamborghini Urus – starting price: £177,298
Why’s it cool? It’s a Lamborghini you can use to take the family out.
Performance SUVs are increasingly popular in today’s market, and you could argue that the Lamborghini Urus is the ultimate car in this class. The angular styling will certainly get you noticed, and even if that doesn’t work the V8 soundtrack will. It’s also one of the fastest SUVs on sale, with a top speed of 190mph.
Tesla Model X – starting price: £110,980
Why’s it cool? The gull-wing doors are cool enough on their own.
Few cars offer the combination of space and pace quite like the Tesla Model X. The Plaid model will do 0-60mph in 2.5 seconds thanks to its 1,020hp electric motors. It’s also packed with tech, including Tesla’s Autopilot which can take the strain out of motorway driving. And let’s not forget the automatic gull-wing doors which are an awesome party piece.
Toyota GR86 – starting price: TBC
Why’s it cool? It’s an old school sports car designed purely for having fun.
When the Toyota GT86 came out back in 2021, car enthusiasts all over the world fell in love with its back-to-basics sports car ethos. Fast forward to today with the launch of the new GR86, and the recipe seems to be the same. A peppy 2.4-litre engine, rear-wheel drive and a well balanced chassis will hopefully make it a riot to drive when it goes on sale at the end of the year.
