The industry leader Waymo gets its new vehicle models from the Chinese manufacturer Zeekrs.
The Google sister Waymo has three car models on offer so far. First, the autonomous vehicle technology was installed in the model Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid and later in the Jaguar I-PACE. Now there is another model that belongs to the Geely Group: Zeekrs.
The company Zeekrs was launched by Geely as a premium electrical brand to work with Tesla, Nio and XPeng to compete. Geely also has the brand Volvo and ten percent of the shares from Daimler. The e-car for Waymo was specially developed by Zeekr for Waymo’s demands and is intended to drive through the USA.
The vehicle is designed as a van and should above all reflect comfort. Since it is supposed to drive autonomously, no steering wheel is installed. The missing driver’s seat offers more space and there is additional space thanks to adjustable seats. There are also displays inside to provide information and, for example, charging options for your own devices.
