El tiempo en stock de un vehículo usado 'ECO' es un 20% menor que el de un vehículo de combustión

The hybrid Toyota Yaris is the fastest ‘ECO’ used vehicle to find a buyer, according to data from autobiz’s Green Car Monitor VO for Sumauto.

The high prices of fuel and the changes in habit generated by the pandemic are transforming trends in dealerships. According to the Green Car Monitor study carried out by Autobiz for Sumauto, on the occasion of World Earth Day, the time in stock of a used ECO vehicle is 20% less than that of a combustion vehicle. Why? We tell you in today’s news.

Specifically, as revealed by the investigation, the time that a used ‘ECO’ usually lasts in stock is 74 days. This is about 20% less than a combustion one, which takes just 3 months to find a buyer.

And what is the fastest selling model? They point out that the hybrid Toyota Yaris is the fastest ‘ECO’ used vehicle to find a buyer, with only 31 days. The Mercedes C-Class and Mitsubishi Outlander hybrids are, with 33 and 34 days, respectively, the other two models that close the podium of models that register the least waiting time in stock. They are followed by the electric Renault Kangoo ZE and the hybrid Mercedes A-Class, which only take 36 days to find an outlet.

The reasons for this trend

This speed in finding a buyer takes place in the current context of lack of stock and rise in fuel prices as a result of the war in Ukraine. The situation has caused the tendency to search for hybrids and electric vehicles to accelerate, which are already one of four searches online, when a year ago they were 12%. And they have done so to the detriment of searches for gasoline cars, which in 12 months have plummeted from 32% to the current 21%.

The driver trend toward electrified models continues to grow even though they are priced higher than internal combustion vehicles, even on the used market. In fact, the average outlay for a VO with an ‘ECO’ label is around 30,000 euros, compared to 20,000 for diesel/gasoline.

According to the general director of Sumauto, Nicolás Cantaert, “electrification is already installed in the heads of drivers, who are aware that the future of mobility lies there. At the moment, it is becoming gradual, through the hybrid rather than the pure electric, but the numbers of online searches or the short time they spend in stock are symptoms that the environmental transition in cars is gaining strength and is no longer running behind, especially when there are formulas such as VO that allow greater accessibility”.
