Mesa redonda de CEOs de marcas de VI

Digitization, the arrival of the new mobility… The directors discussed the great challenges facing the industrial vehicle.

One of the activities that generated the most interest in the past Industrial Vehicle Observatory was, without a doubt, the round table of CEOs of VI brands. For more than an hour, the main executives of the sector debated at length on key points of great interest to industrial vehicle dealers. At the table participated: Giovanni Bruno, MD Volvo Trucks Spain; Stéphane de Creisquer, CEO of MAN Truck & Bus Iberia; François Bottinelli, MD Renault Trucks Spain; Antonio García-Patiño, President and CEO of Mercedes-Benz Truck Spain; Sebastián Figueroa, Executive Director of Scania Spain; and Ruggero Mughini, General Director of Iveco Spain and Portugal.

This is how the brands see the situation in the sector

“We have gone from looking for orders to having to manage them due to lack of stock. There is activity but the microchip crisis is affecting”. Stephane de Creisquer.

”What we are experiencing is more than just a new scenario. It will last more than a year. We live in a global world.” Antonio Garcia-Patino.

“There is demand throughout Europe, and it is growing. That’s why I want to be optimistic. But it is true that we need a strong sector to adapt.” Francois Bottinelli.

“We are making great efforts to adapt to the new situation generated by the microchip crisis.” Sebastian Figueroa.

“If we have trucks, we will sell more. We hope that the situation will normalize as soon as possible. Now we are growing 5% compared to last year. It will take time to return to the figures of 2019.” John Bruno.

The energy transition in the industrial vehicle

“The sector has done its homework in terms of energy transition. But we also need the involvement of the administrations”. John Bruno.

“Our customers want speed and economy. Diesel still has a long way to go in the sector. Now it is very clean and cheap.” Antonio Garcia-Patino.

”National plans are needed for the renovation of the park. Everyone needs to put their grain of sand and activate the ecosystem”. Stephane de Creisquer.

“In 2030 we are going to have many technologies coexisting at the same time. Spain has missed a train regarding biodiesel”. Ruggero Mughini.

Changes in dealerships

“With the entry of new technology vehicles, the aftermarket is not going to give the same volume of business. The balance will be upset.” Ruggero Mughini.

”The change in dealerships is going to take place very gradually. We have to speed up consulting, advice…”. Stephane de Creisquer.

“It is essential that dealerships and brands are sustainable. If we don’t earn money, we can’t innovate, we can’t have the best advisers…”. Antonio Garcia-Patino.

“There is a future full of opportunities for the commercial vehicle dealer.” Francois Bottinelli.

“At VOLVO we are not going to make a revolution in our relationship with dealers, but rather an evolution.” John Bruno.
