In Rüsselsheim there have been complaints about the state of the city center for some time. But the mayor sees progress. Once the projects are completed, it should be busier there again.
Rüsselsheim ⋅ The city is impoverished, and you can see that,” said the staff council chair of the Rüsselsheim city administration, Michaela Stasche, at a staff meeting this week in the Rüsselsheim city theater. She called on the administration not to save, but to invest and finally to fill the 300 vacancies in the administration. “Rüsselsheim has huge chances,” says Mayor Udo Bausch (independent) and sees the city on the right track. But he also knows: “You have to be patient.”
While the head of the staff council sees an increasing number of Rüsselsheim citizens slipping into poverty because of the drastically rising prices, the mayor has big plans for revitalizing the city and significantly upgrading the inner city, which has come under criticism. A small lawn for sunbathing on the station square, which is currently concreted over, should contribute to this, as should events of all kinds, which should also encourage people to linger in the city center outside of business hours.
