Tegut new at the Konstablerwache
Best downtown location, in a commercial building on Kurt-Schumacher-Strasse opposite Konstablerwache – many retail companies had their eyes on this shop space, but the Tegut company was awarded the contract. On Wednesday, the retail chain opened its new supermarket with 1,700 square meters of retail space, making it the second largest supermarket in the city center: only Rewe’s in the basement of the My Zeil shopping center has a good 500 square meters more. In the commercial building, which belongs to the Leyendecker Group, the Segmüller furniture store was the last tenant. With the new location, Tegut is targeting both customers who do their weekend shopping here and occasional shoppers. However, there are no parking spaces directly in the building. Customers can scan and pay for their purchases at six of 14 checkouts. Tegut sells cheese and meat fresh at the counter in the new market, along with salads and antipasti. At the “hot counter” there are daily changing dishes. The subtenant is the “Famous Frankfood” bistro. The opening times are attractive from Monday to Saturday from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.

In the Bahnhofsviertel district, the Danish company Reform is presenting designer kitchen furniture.

Ikea refiner on Gutleutstrasse

Making high-quality design affordable: the Danish kitchen direct marketer Reform started out in 2014 with this goal. The Danes initially attracted attention as Ikea hackers by refining the Swedish furniture chain’s kitchen cabinets with special fronts. The company now also works with renowned architects and designers (Jean Nouvel, Sigurd Larsen, Muller van Severen). A sixth has now been added to the previous five flagship branches on Gutleutstrasse, in an attractive old building with large arched windows, behind which the kitchen manufacturer’s simple, high-quality furniture is shown to its best advantage over 160 square meters. It is produced in Europe at prices that are significantly higher than those of Ikea, but are not yet in the luxury league. “Design at the price of Volkswagen”, describes a spokeswoman. Reform has ambitious growth plans and now also has the financial backing since the investment company Experienced Capital, which specializes in premium lifestyle brands, invested EUR 25 million. Five more showrooms are scheduled to open in Germany and America by the end of 2022.
