German FAZ: Trump must be charged003682

There is no precedent for what is happening in Washington these days. The Capitol Storming Committee of Inquiry, which spent months gathering intelligence behind closed doors and now meets in public, has no law enforcement role. The nine members of the committee – two of them conservative Never-Trumpers – are working against the clock.

Republicans hope to win a majority in the House of Representatives in the fall congressional elections and then consider dissolving the committee they are boycotting. The Democrats, at least most of them, don’t think they’ll be able to turn the election all over again by putting the spotlight on January 6, 2021. Your goal is to use the final report to increase the pressure on the judiciary to bring charges against Donald Trump. He would be the first president not only to face two charges of impeachment but also to be prosecuted for his actions.
