KALININGRAD, June 5. /TASS/. Russian automobile holding Avtotor plans to increase production of cars by 20% year-on-year in 2019, the company’s founder Vladimir Shcherbakov told reporters on Wednesday.
“Last year we produced slightly more than 203,000 cars. This year, we expect to produce about 245,000 [cars], this is exactly 20% [up year-on-year],” he said.

TomTom part of EU Data Task Force’s proof of concept to make roads in EU safer
An Innovative Road Safety Initiative To Rely On Live Vehicle Data
AMSTERDAM, 5-Jun-2019 — /EuropaWire/ — EU Data Task Force (DTF) and TomTom (TOM2), active in location technology services, will work together on a proof of concept to improve road safety by sharing vehicle and infrastructure data between countries and manufacturers.
Dangerous road conditions, such as slippery roads, can be detected using the latest technologies and warnings can be issued to drivers and traffic participants. These warning messages, however, can also be very beneficial to other drivers and road operators, if shared.
The EU Data Task Force (DTF) will use a decentralised data collaboration architecture to share vehicle-generated data such as alerts, along with infrastructure information, in its proof of concept. The datasets will then be taken by TomTom, processed further, and delivered back to other vehicles and road authorities via its live Traffic services.
The EU Data Task Force (DTF) is a trusted partnership that enables fair competition organised into a public-private initiative that will implement existing EU laws on safety data access. DTF members include the European Commission, national governments, vehicle manufacturers and service providers. The DTF project is based on the reciprocity principle where safety data is offered in return for safety services.
Commenting on the DTF collaboration, Ralf-Peter Schäfer, VP Traffic and Travel, TomTom, said:
“Improving road safety in Europe is high on the agenda of the EU and national governments, and it’s also high on ours. TomTom’s vision is of safer roads, free of congestion and emissions. Our involvement in this proof of concept demonstrates our commitment to delivering live safety services for our customers, and our pride in being the first to collaborate with automakers and governments to make the roads safer.”
The following EU Member States, organisations and companies are part of The EU Data Task Force (DTF): BMW AG; Ford Smart Mobility Ltd; Mercedes Benz; Volvo Cars, HERE Europe B.V., TomTom Traffic B.V., The Netherlands, Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management; Spain, Ministry of Home Affairs La Subdirección General de Gestión de la Movilidad DGT; Finland, Transport and Communications Agency TRAFICOM; Germany, Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure and Luxembourg, Ministry of the Economy.

SEAT’s first electric car called Mii to debut in Oslo, Europe’s EVs capital
SEAT’s first electric car called Mii to debut in Oslo, Europe’s EVs capital
The SEAT on Tour roadshow will visit Oslo, Liverpool, Frankfurt, Paris and Milan
OSLO, 4-Jun-2019 — /EuropaWire/ — SEAT will debut its first ever electric car, Mii electric, in Oslo as part of its inaugural ‘SEAT on Tour’ roadshow. During SEAT’s European roadshow the company will bring the spirit of ‘Created in Barcelona’as well as its latest SEAT and CUPRA models, including the CUPRA Formentor and the all-electric SEAT el-Born, in Oslo, Liverpool, Paris and Milan.
SEAT is the brand with the youngest customer base, 10 years younger than the average and is one of the fastest growing volume car brands in Europe. The brand sold 202,600 cars in just the first four months of 2019, breaking all records. 80% of its cars are exported to 80 countries around the world.
Oslo, known as the electric vehicle capital of Europe, is going to be the first stop of the brand on its inaugural ‘SEAT on Tour’ roadshow. In Oslo, SEAT’s Mii electric will be premiered. The new electrical vehicle of SEAT is expected on the market by end of 2019 and will be one of the most affordable electric vehicles on offer. According to the company, the pre sales of the new Mii electric will begin in September 2019.
SEAT Minimó concept car, part of the brand’s micromobility strategy, will also be demonstrated in Oslo, along with the Mii electric. The SEAT Minimó concept car reaffirms SEAT’s commitment to urban micromobility and expands the easy mobility ecosystem that the brand is fostering.
SEAT is going to lead the urban micromobility strategy for the Volkswagen Group with the international premier of the Minimó concept vehicle that follows the launch of the SEAT eXS KickScooter powered by SEGWAY.
SEAT’s first all-electric vehicle, SEAT el-Born, based on the Volkswagen Group’s MEB platform, will also be on display in Oslo. SEAT el-Born is the second Group car to be built on the MEB platform.
Commenting on the exiting premieres, SEAT President Luca de Meo, said:
“Accessibility is one of most outstanding SEAT values and the ‘SEAT on Tour’ initiative reinforces it by bringing our novelties close to some of the key countries for the brand. As a world reference in electric mobility, it makes complete sense to take the Mii electric as a world premiere to Norway and showcase SEAT’s latest technology with two products that will shake the market in 2020, the SEAT el-Born and the CUPRA Formentor. Now is the right time and Oslo is the right place.”
CUPRA, just an year after it has become an independent brand, will join the SEAT on Tour roadshow to continue conquering car enthusiasts around the world.
CUPRA has remarkable sales achievements in the first four months of 2019 with the brand having sold 7,900 vehicles, which represents 82,3% growth over previous year.
Commenting on this achievement, CUPRA CEO and SEAT Executive Vice-President for Sales and Marketing Wayne Griffiths, said:
“We are expanding our footprint by strengthening our product range and completing the implementation of our distribution network, currently at 222 CUPRA Corners. In addition, the CUPRA Formentor and its high-performance plug-in hybrid engine revs up our path towards electrification. In the next few months we will prove that performance can also be electrified.”
Following the roadshow in Oslo, Norway, SEAT and CUPRA will be in Liverpool on June the 18th, where SEAT classic cars will also be on display. Paris will follow the Frankfurt Motorshow at end of September and the journey will finish in Milan during November 2019.
SEAT is considering to take its roadshow to Latin America, once its tour across Europe is over. Latin America is a key market for SEAT, which shows strong sales performance especially in Mexico.
