Karin Rådström, Head of Mercedes-Benz Trucks, on climate-damaging diesel engines, the long road to green trucks and higher wages for truck drivers.

Ms Rådström, almost a third of all CO2 emissions from transport come from trucks and buses. How long is the road to the green truck?

The share of trucks and buses in the emissions is high and Daimler Truck is one of the largest manufacturers in the world. For me personally, that is exactly the reason why I work in this industry.

Nevertheless, the climate-friendly truck is still a long way off.

Yes, we are part of the problem and the challenges are huge. But we are determined to make road freight transport emission-free as soon as possible. CO2 emissions from heavy-duty vehicles worldwide are greater than the total emissions in my home country of Sweden. So there is enormous potential for improvement, and that is always an opportunity.
