German FAZ: Tesla and BYD better than the German competition006359

The Washington-based environmental institute International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT) certifies that the German car companies Volkswagen and BMW are making great efforts in the transition to zero-emission vehicles. ICCT played a key role in uncovering the Volkswagen diesel scandal in 2015 and has now evaluated the previous results and activities of the 20 most important car companies in the world in a study.

The institute is particularly committed to the battery-electric car and, in the overall ranking, sees the American supplier Tesla in first place, and the Chinese group BYD also in a position as the “leader” of change in second place. In the second group, “Car manufacturers in transition”, BMW and Volkswagen are in third and fourth place. Mercedes-Benz is placed eighth. The American car companies General Motors and Ford are behind them in ninth and twelfth place.
