Diesel city buses will soon be a thing of the past, but there is still a long way to go before we all go electric.

Will we all soon only be traveling by bus or train? Some dream of it, but it is probably not possible to offer such short intervals and travel times in rural areas as in the big cities, which even come close to the flexibility of private transport. It is difficult to contradict this statement by Federal Transport Minister Volker Wissing (FDP). So the car will not disappear.

Nevertheless, local public transport is more in focus than ever, which is ensured by the new Germany ticket for 49 euros, which allows buyers to use every German transport network. According to initial estimates, 700,000 people have bought the D-Ticket so far who did not previously have a transport company time card. Rail and bus in regional transport will soon be in greater demand. That should be the case, according to estimates from a Roland Berger study, it would be necessary to double the mileage in bus operations in order to achieve the climate protection goals. But while trains mostly run electrically on their separate route network, the regular service bus continues to run powerfully.
