Mercedes emphasized in a response that the vote was secret and supervised by the NLRB (National Labor Relations Board). “We regret that the UAW does not accept this decision.” The union was recently given a tailwind by the fact that it was able to achieve better working conditions and income increases of around 25 percent last fall after a week-long strike at the US companies General Motors, Ford and Stellantis.
