The Wolfsburg police are visibly nervous when the virtual general meeting of the Volkswagen Group is coming up on Wednesday. In front of the “East Gate” of the VW main plant alone, there are a number of personnel carriers ready to intervene if environmental activists and other groups start disruptive maneuvers. Police boats patrol the Mittelland Canal, which flows in front of the plant. And yet, in the morning, a group managed to hang a banner from the pedestrian bridge in the direction of the Autostadt.
