BMW continues to rely on the combustion engine, which can’t be a bad thing given its advantages on long journeys and for people without a wallbox, but at the same time it is rapidly expanding its electric fleet on the same platform. The youngest member of this family is the electric iX1, which is exactly four and a half meters long and is the smallest SUV in the range. Of course, the iX2 is hardly any larger and is even slightly lower, so we can just about accept the one as a compact class. The electric one looks similar to its brothers with petrol and diesel engines, but behind the radiator grille there is plastic with a honeycomb structure.
