The electrification of driving is unlikely to be stopped. But there are intermediate stages along the way, for people who can’t or don’t want to afford an electric car. If you still want the feeling of electric transportation, you can take a closer look at one of those hybrids that drive purely electrically but fill up with gasoline and thus generate their own electricity. For the latest generation of the Corsa, which is Germany’s best-selling small car, Opel is taking a different approach: the combustion engine is mildly hybridized, but the interaction of the components is coordinated so that it drives almost like an electric car.
