You grew up in Sweden. Mercedes wasn’t such a big deal back then, was it? There weren’t that many, but if someone on the street had a Mercedes, everyone knew it. The W126 was a dream car of my youth… . a legendary forerunner of today’s S-Class. Today you have the task of carrying this myth into the future. A great task, and at the most exciting time ever in the automotive industry. I’m certainly inspired by my amazement as a little boy, for example when it comes to the future design language of Mercedes-Benz.First you have to solve current problems. Electrical registrations are stagnating, at least in the home market of Germany. Do you still believe in the ramp-up of electromobility? The destination station remains the same. We are committed to the goal of making our business carbon-neutral by 2039. This includes all emissions from production, including those from supplier parts, and from the use phase of the cars. We had defined an interim goal that we wanted to be able to supply 100 percent of customers with electric vehicles by 2030, where the market allows this. But now we see that the ramp-up curve in the electric vehicle market is not as steep as most people thought three or four years ago.
