Mercedes-Benz is still in a weak phase with a further decline in sales in its core passenger car business. In the second quarter, operating profit (EBIT) fell by almost a fifth to 4 billion euros, and sales fell by 3.9 percent to 36.7 billion euros, as the car manufacturer announced on Friday. The Mercedes-Benz Cars division suffered a drop in profits by more than a quarter. At 10.2 percent, the adjusted return recovered slightly compared to the already weak start to the year. For the year as a whole, the company now expects a range of 10 to 11 percent, up from 10 to 12 percent previously.
