The Federal Ministry of Economics is making a new attempt to advance the heating transition. Since the heat pump promoted by Robert Habeck (Greens) has not yet convinced many homeowners, the traffic light coalition’s hopes now rest on the expansion of the district heating networks. The aim is to provide climate-friendly heating in the future, especially in densely built-up urban regions. However, district heating has a reputation for being a comparatively expensive type of heating. The reform of the District Heating Ordinance (AVBFernwärmeV) is intended to change that.
