Just a few weeks ago, a huge crane arrived in the middle of Hanover. The monster stretched its yellow arm more than 100 meters up to the television tower and brought down the large Volkswagen logos. For years, the neon sign on the so-called Telemoritz was the first thing that many travelers who got off or changed trains at Hanover Central Station saw of the city. And they were probably also a small demonstration of power by the company in the state capital: Volkswagen is not just Wolfsburg. Volkswagen is Lower Saxony.
