China’s consistent expansion of electromobility is having an impact: in August, more than a million “new energy vehicles” consisting of pure electric cars and plug-in hybrids were sold for the first time. This means an increase of 43 percent compared to the previous year. At the same time, the dominance of the market leader BYD is becoming ever greater: the share of these electric cars climbed to 37 percent; BYD’s share of the overall market (including combustion engines) even doubled to 20 percent.
