The images circulating in the Korean media give an idea of the violence with which the fire raged. Several cars, burnt down to gray-reddish steel frames, can be seen standing closely together in a sooty underground car park. One of the skeletons was once a Mercedes EQE, in whose battery the fire broke out, according to current investigations. Since the fire was difficult to extinguish, the fire spread quickly. The flames burned for eight hours, destroying or damaging a total of 140 vehicles in the garage. 200 residents of the residential complex above had to leave their apartments. Several apartments are now said to be uninhabitable.
