A heated dispute has broken out in the new French government under the leadership of Michel Barnier over how to deal with Marine Le Pen’s faction. The young Minister of Economy and Finance, Antoine Armand, said he did not want to consult the Rassemblement National (RN) MPs when planning the budget. For him, the party founded by right-wing extremists in 1972 is not part of the “republican arc,” which is why he refuses to talk to them.
