The call for cheaper electric cars could also be heard at the car summit at Economics Minister Habeck, especially from the green camp. Greenpeace campaigned for an electric car bonus for cars with a price of up to 30,000 euros, financed with “a new registration tax for gas guzzlers”. But the problem is, on the one hand, that there are very few electric cars with a price of less than 30,000 euros on the German market, and on the other hand, that German jobs depend on the expensive cars. The cheapest battery-electric car produced in Germany is the Volkswagen ID.3 from Zwickau, whose basic price without extras is 36,900 euros.
