German FAZ: Things are getting serious for many workers and employees008022

The weak economy and the major upheavals are causing numerous jobs in companies to disappear. Even the growing shortage of skilled workers is apparently no guarantee for every job. The quarterly job radar collected by the F.A.Z. archive shows that the reduction plans far outnumber the vacancies. Accordingly, companies announced a total of almost 84,000 job cuts in Germany in the three quarters from January 1st to September 30th, 2024. This compares to planned hiring of just under 31,500 positions. The F.A.Z. job radar records major reductions or expansion plans for 100 or more positions and thus only represents a section of the labor market. However, experience shows that the trend is accurately depicted.
