New models and some price reductions are stirring up the price segment of cheaper electric cars. Nevertheless, there is little hope that a larger model range of cheaper electric cars could solve the current employment problems in Germany. Opel boss Florian Huettl said in an interview with the “Augsburger Allgemeine”: “We cannot build electric cars in Germany that cost between 25,000 and 30,000 euros. “With German labor and energy costs, that’s simply not possible.” Opel produces the low-cost electric models Corsa and Frontera at “less expensive locations.”
