It is quite unlikely that Mercedes-Benz will engrave the designation of origin on the cylinder heads of the new four-cylinder engines when they debut in the CLA next year. In the future, the small combustion engines will be built by the Chinese partner Geely, whose founder is also a major shareholder in the Stuttgart car manufacturer. But the engineers involved in the development unanimously assure that the technology was entirely developed in Germany.
