The Cologne energy supplier Rheinenergie has come a lot closer to its plan to build the largest river water heat pump in Europe. The company announced this Monday in Cologne that it had awarded the orders to the suppliers and manufacturers of the 150 megawatt system. The VW subsidiary MAN Energy Solutions was awarded the contract to build the large heat pump. A consortium of the companies Züblin and Strabag Umwelttechnik will build the water intake structure and the relatively complex fish protection systems.
