Whether Chanel, Hermès or LVMH – luxury goods companies are a mainstay of the French economy, and their bags, perfumes and clothes are world-famous. The French have a harder time with other premium products. When you think of high-quality and high-priced cars, you tend to think of Porsche, Mercedes, Audi and BMW instead of Renault or the volume brands Peugeot and Citroën, which were absorbed into the Stellantis Group, and not just in Germany.
