The hoped-for rescue could come from China at the last minute: The insolvent Baden-Württemberg flight taxi manufacturer Volocopter has found an investor who could continue the development of electrical multicopters for inner-city short-haul routes. The Chinese car supplier Wanfeng plans to take over the company with the company based in Bruchsal through its Austrian subsidiary Diamond Aircraft. The start-up, which had submitted an application to open insolvency proceedings at the end of December, is also part of the hands of the Chinese state: While Wanfeng owns the majority in the aircraft manufacturer Diamond Aircraft, investment funds from the People’s Republic hold around 45 percent. According to information from F.A.Z. the contracts should be signed these days. Volocopter, Wanfeng and Diamond Aircraft did not comment on request.
