The relief at the Schwedt refinery site was likely to have been great on Wednesday. After the United States imposed sanctions on the Russian oil companies Rosneft and Lukoil last week, it was initially unclear whether the PCK refinery in Schwedt, operated by Rosneft Germany, could also be affected. Although Rosneft Germany is under trust management by the federal government, it still belongs to the Russian parent company. Through its German subsidiaries, it holds a good 54 percent of the shares in the refinery in Schwedt.
