Escaping the agony of choice, not having to decide between a comfortable stay on board, an appearance suitable for a grand hotel and sporting progress, that has always been a strength of the Mercedes coupés. Some time ago the Stuttgart-based company took over the former in-house tuner AMG, the latter smelled more like oil and sweat, like real handwork. One fruit of this cross-sector marriage was recently a guest in the editorial office in the form of the compact CLE 53. It gained a plus point right from the start with its discreet appearance, apart from the black matt paint that gets dirty quickly.
