German FAZ: Tachograph 010325

Last roundBefore the evaluation criteria are tightened next year, the car manufacturers once again sent numerous cars to the Euro NCAP crash test. Of the 20 models in total, eleven received the maximum rating of five stars, nine had to settle for four. The five-star models were Deepal S05, Exlantix ET, Geely Starray EM-I, Hyundai Nexo, Kia EV4 with Safety Package, Mazda CX-5, Mercedes CLA, MG4 EV Urban, Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross, Porsche Cayenne and VW T-Roc. It was enough for four stars for the Alpine A390, Chery Tiggo 4, Ebro s400, Jeep Compass, Kia EV4 without safety package, Kia PV5, Renault Clio, Toyota Aygo X and Toyota Yaris. The cars are still tested according to the current, less strict criteria. The coveted five stars will be much more difficult to achieve from next year. Among other things, there is a threat to cars that rely solely on touchscreen operation. According to Euro-NCAP, this is the biggest reform since the overall star rating was introduced in 2009.
