Red Bull is racing away in the motorsport premier class, Ferrari and Mercedes want to catch up, but how? The pursuers take up the chase – in their own way. There is a lot at stake for both of them.
Four races, four wins, three of them in doubles. Red Bull started the second season of the new era almost perfectly. The plan by Ferrari and Mercedes to prevent exactly that has already failed terribly. The challengers are separated by a class difference from the defending champion. Ferrari lost 21 seconds to Red Bull in Baku, Mercedes 46. With Aston Martin there is also a new competitor who has risen from midfield.
Red Bull does not leave much for the former opponents. Ferrari and Mercedes each have only one podium in their season record. Winning is only possible if Red Bull retires with both cars. At Ferrari, defeats of this kind equal national tragedies. An entire country wants to be rewarded after 16 years of waiting for the world title. Anyone present at the presentation of the current Ferrari SF-23 in Maranello felt what this success would mean. Ferrari accepted the order for its Tifosi, but it looks like it will be another year of empty promises.
