The hierarchy in the large universe of small buses was like this for what felt like an eternity: VW T somewhere at the top, Mercedes-Benz trailed behind from the commercial vehicle department, Ford had its very own regular clientele with the Transit, and Opel or Renault or a few others shared the back seats.
